How can I install the Website Integrity Seal on my web site?
Why implement a Seal?
If customers do not feel that doing business with a company is safe, the business can miss out on a substantial amount of revenue. TNS Research has reported that 70% of online shoppers had abandoned a purchase because of security concerns. Every time there is a newspaper report of stolen personal data, consumers become more wary of shopping online or accessing their financial or related information online. Businesses that enhance their security — and make that enhancement visible to consumers — gain a competitive advantage over those that do not. To earn trust and maximize online revenue, businesses need to not only protect customer data, but also make it clear to customers that their transactions are secure.
What is a Seal's value to you and your customers?
The BrandProtect Website Integrity Seal is what BrandProtect clients put on their websites to provide comfort to visitors that there are measures being taken by the owner to protect the site and how they are represented online. It also helps to build trust and even to obtain a competitive advantage.
How does it work?
The seal is available to BrandProtect customers. The seal is provided as an image URL for inclusion in YOUR web site. Customers accessing your registered site will see the GREEN seal with the current Eastern time in the logo. If your site was copied for phishing or other illicit activities, the date time on the seal displayed on the illicit site will not show the current date time, and will not change when the site is refreshed. In the event that the illicit site copied the seal URL, the server will notice the web site is not authorized to use the seal, and will return an Alert Image (RED LOGO), warning consumers to stay away.
When do I know it’s spoofed?
If your site was copied for phishing or other illicit activities, the date time on the seal displayed on the illicit site will not show the current date time, and will not change. In the event that the illicit site copied the seal URL, the server will notice the web site is not authorized to use the seal, and will return an Alert Image (RED LOGO), warning consumers to stay away.
What proof is there that customers will trust my site more if I have this?
TNS Research found that 9 out of 10 consumers who abandoned a purchase would have completed the transaction if a recognized trust mark had been present on the site.
How do websites get validated and thus qualify for the BrandProtect Website Integrity Seal?
Validation testing consists of checking WHOIS information against information provided by the website owner and checking that domains are not listed in any database of compromised websites, that listed company phone numbers are legitimate and that the domains have been active for over six months. BrandProtect reserves the right to refuse or revoke registration for the Website Integrity Seal. While we make reasonable efforts to ensure the completeness of our validation testing, we provide no guarantees or warranties, of any kind or nature (whether express or implied), regarding the accuracy or usefulness of any information communicated by the Website Integrity Seal or the security of the website bearing the Website Integrity Seal. Validation testing does not, and cannot, guarantee security.
