What is an Incident Response?

An incident response is any action taken to prevent the general online public from accessing a particular online service such as a web page or blog. This can include the sending of cease and desist warning email letters to the administrative contact of an offending site, contacting an Internet Service Provider to have service rescinded for a website hosting fraudulent activity, or contacting authorized personnel within social media and auction sites to have content removed.

How much does an Incident Response cost?
For most incidents, a flat fee of $1000 for identity theft takedowns or $500 for cease and desist actions will be charged for each response action taken by BrandProtect and agreed to in advance with the client. In carrying out such actions, BrandProtect does not, and cannot, guarantee the successful elimination of every incident. While we make reasonable efforts to ensure the completeness of our take-down efforts, we make no claims, and provide no warranties, of any kind or nature (whether express or implied) regarding the effectiveness of such efforts.

Cost to the enterprise includes financial losses by individual customers and loss of trust in the organization meant to be protecting them. Identity Theft includes; Phishing (the use of email scams); Vishing (the use of telephone and voice-over IP scams); SMShing (SMS based scams); and ever more sophisticated attempts by criminals to steal information and avoid detection.

What is the Website Integrity Seal?

The BrandProtect Website Integrity Seal is what BrandProtect clients can put on their websites to provide comfort to visitors that there are measures being taken by the owner to protect its presence online and that this site is validated in real-time to assure its integrity and legitimacy.

Customers accessing your registered site will see the GREEN seal with the current Eastern time in the logo. If your site was copied for phishing or other illicit activities, the date time on the seal displayed on the illicit site will not show the current date time, and will not change when the site is refreshed. In the event that the illicit site copied the seal URL, the server will notice the web site is not authorized to use the seal, and will return an Alert Image (RED LOGO), warning consumers to stay away.
